History
The Centre is an interdisciplinary
organization. Philosophical aspects
are present in all
sciences. Therefore the Centre
concerns philosophical and
methodological aspects in all departments.
Its core are the
enthusiastic members with great
interest in philosophy and science
studies. It is their interest and
high motivation that drives the many
projects and success of the Centre.
It was created in 1996 as a response
to the need to organize research in
philosophy and science studies.
Philosophers working
interdisciplinary for a longer
period of time need an environment,
where the philosophical aspects are
in focus otherwise their high
qualifications in the philosophical
area tends to deteriorate and their
value for the interdiscilinary work
declines too.
A consequence of this demand was the
start of Centre for Philosphy and
Science Studies which was
financially supported by all three
faculties, the humkanities, social
science and technical & natural
sciences. The assembly of Centre
members elected Lennart Nørreklit as
Centre leader who was snce reelected
at the annual assembly meetings.
In 2004 the
Centre was reorganized. By that time
the activities in the Centre could
not be controlled efficiently by a
Centre leader. The result was the
present organization with an elected
board organizing the Centre work.
This created a substantial increase
in the activities of the Centre.
As a consequence
of the university
reform and the establishment of a
department with relations to all
faculties, the Centre
har become administratively
attached to the department of Learning and Philosophy
in January 2005.
